Run Summary:

Our Father's Day Run began at Patty's Egg Nest in Arlington with Cecil, Justin, Justin's Friend, Rob, Roger and me.

We met Jim from the DNR at the Bear Creek Mainline Gate along with a couple other volunteers.

We began the trail work clearing another entrance into the skills building area. Two culverts were put in, there was a bobcat and excavator and lots more Rainier Ridge Ram's showed up with Duane. Cecil winched logs out of the way. Rob, Duane and Jim ran chainsaws. People shoveled, moved brush, cleared the path and got through to the skills building area.

At lunch break, Cecil broke out the barbecue and provided hot dogs, chips, and soda to all who were hungry by now. After lunch, there was testing out of the new area and we headed out.

We took Upper Mainline trail out. Cecil and Duane couldn't pass up the big rocks so they played a bit. Then once that was conquered, we headed down the trail and hit the Expressway where we just about lost Roger (and his Jeep0 over the edge coming around a big rock on the right. It was so slick his tires slipped off the high spots. He got wedged in the outside of the ruts and then his left tire got caught under a tree/root. First we tried rocks under his tires and a strap to Duane's XJ. Then Rogers winch decided it only wanted to go out but not pull in. So Cecil beat on the solenoid. Finally him and Duane switched the wires and it worked. By the way, the winch worked fine both ways when we got it home.

The rest of the trip was uneventful, just more mud and goo. It was a good day, the weather cleared, and our club donated over 50 hours between the seven of us towards the Capital Grant for the skills building area. And we got to wheel out!
