Snow
Run At
Jacks Pass
JAN SAT 14 CORE
RUN
We
set out on sat the 14 knowing that Fri the 13 was
behind us, Luck was in our favor. We were going to
the snow not even knowing if their was any. We had 9
Rigs, 9 Members, 4 Candidates, 5 Guest,1 previous
Member. One of our guest was from B.E.S.T., Driving
a toy sitting on 36's. We set out for Jacks Pass,
Thinking we would find snow there. As we were
driving, I got a call from one of our Candidates,
"He was Playing catch up" He was calling to get our
20, That’s the last we heard from him until we got a
call over the CB informing us that he was stuck in
the snow ahead of us. Were not sure how he got ahead
of us. We found our snow and our candidate. After
airing down and getting the Bronco2 back on the road
we moved out. My jeep is sitting on 35's and I
dropped the tire pressure to 5psi. It was working
pretty good. If you don’t spend a lot of time in the
snow, and you end up in it, Drop your tire pressure
to 3-7psi. This will allow you to get on top of the
snow. To much tire pressure you will dig your tires
all the way to solid ground, and if your in 4' of
snow, your stuck. Make sure someone in your group
has air so you can air up for the ride home. The toy
and the bronco2 were out in front pushing snow. I
was back helping out where I could. The biggest rig
we had was a ram PU. He was digging his tires in
and, then he was digging with his Shovel. We dropped
his pressure to 7psi and he was on top and moving
out. We caught up to the other guys and the Bronco
was stuck. The toy lost a inside bead on his
beadlocks. The word of the day was STUCK.. I backed
down the road and hooked a strap on to our smallest
rig, a Nissan sitting on pizza cutters. We kept the
strap on and caught up to the others. Everyone else
caught up to us under their own power. We pressed
on, slow going. The deep snow was wet getting on top
was not happening. We were pushing snow. I heard
over the CB that 4 rigs were all stuck and all tied
to one another. When we got to solid ground we aired
up and moved on. On our way out our candidate in the
Bronco2 got himself in a tight situation and then
smoke. He was dead in the water. Winches and snatch
blocks were not helping. It was getting dark, and if
we could not get it running it may be spending the
night in the woods. The air box chafed some wires
against the firewall and caused a short. We ripped
the air box out dressed up the wiring and it
started. He drove out under his own power. Agreeing
that we had a good day we headed for
home.
