C.O.R.E's Trail Rating System Difficulty Ratings: CIRCLE = Easy Trail These trails include fire roads and scenic trails appropriate for the whole family. Stock rigs will have little to no difficulties. Trail characteristics to include; graded dirt, washouts, shallow water crossing, passable mud, gentle grades, small ruts and rocks. Areas are suitable for day picnicking, trail maintenance and area cleanups. Recommended safety equipment should include water, CB Radio, Full-size spare, basic tools,first aid kit and personal items (food, appropriate clothing, etc). SQUARE = Moderate Trail These trails include fire roads, scenic trails but also add a bit more difficulty. These roads will begin to require 4-Wheel drive capabilities, along with needing more advanced driving skills. Trail characteristics include; moderate grades, deeper water and mud, rock sizes may exceed hub heights, sharper uphill and side hill angles, and body damage is possible. Caution is recommended for wider vehicles. Recommended safety and vehicle equipment; Easy Trail recommendations, front and rear recovery points, recovery strap and/or winch, spare parts, survival gear, fire extinguisher, locker in one axel, and extra fuel. DIAMOND = Difficult Trail These trails include severe rock and ruts, shelves, mud bog conditions, water crossings with strong currents, and steep grades and side hills over 30 degrees. Experienced 4-Wheel driving skills are essential. Winching and trail building are necessary. These trails will be impassible for stock rigs. Expect body damage and/or mechanical breakdown. Rollovers are possible. Recommended vehicle equipment should include all above recommendations for Easy and Moderate Trails. In addition, oversized tires, lift, 2 lockers, and hard top/roll cage are a must. Extensive spare parts and tools required. Use extreme caution on these trails.
